In the elementary school author's words:

This book came to be over one summer, when my mother was testing my ability to write Chinese characters from memory. She would say the character aloud, use it in a sentence she dictated and ask me to write the character not only correctly but in the right stroke order.

Then I started to create my own sentences and write them on the white board. Little by little, I came up with the idea to write this book. My mother helped me make this book possible. Thank you, Mom!

Thanks also goes to Grandma, who helped as my Chinese language consultant for things Mom was not certain about.

About the Illustrator

Illustrator Gloria Ng moonlights as an author when the kids are in bed. While she would like to illustrate and write more books, most days she very much prefers to sleep in. Find her at GloriaNg.com.

About the Editor

After reading the author’s bilingual text the first time, editor Emily Ng carefully inspected the drafted text in the entire book and tidied it up so that every person could enjoy and love reading the books. She felt very satisfied with the result and has a few words of appreciation to say about translators, who must put in a lot of time and effort.
